29 June - 13 July 2008 The summer school "GUSS - Graz University Summer School" is designed to be integrated into the curricula of the Joint Degree programmes English and American Studies for the Alps Adriatic Region, History of South-Eastern Europe, Jewish Studies, Gender Studies, Sustainable Development and Latin American Studies.Aiming at strengthening Graz as an important location for higher education and based on the university’s long-standing experience on the European and international level the University of Graz in cooperation with a number of partner universities has developed the mentioned Joint Degree programmes on master level, leading to a joint degree automatically recognized in the countries of all participating universities. This innovative initiative will allow students to profit from the expertise and resources not only of the University of Graz but also of all the partners within the relevant joint degree programme. In order to further strengthen the European dimension of the programmes as well as offer additional qualifications the University of Graz together with its Joint Degree partners will be offering a summer school. The summer school is not only designed for the Joint Degree but also regular students as well as international students. With a complete European integration in mind the summer school with its thematic focuses South-Eastern European Studies, English and American Studies, Jewish Studies and Interdisciplinary Cultural Studies contributes to a better understanding on a European as well as international level. The transferable skills workshops add an important aspect to the summer school and allow the students to not only strengthen their understanding of their respective fields but also to acquire additional skills that will allow them to succeed on the international labour market and become cross-culturally competent experts.
